Trakyn ("Trakyn", "we", "us") provides a student-transport tracking platform used by schools, parents, and drivers. This policy explains what information we handle, why, and how we protect it. Because children's data is involved, we treat privacy as a core responsibility.

Information we collect

Student details provided by the school — name, class/section, stop location, and which van and batch the student is assigned to.
Parent details — name, phone number (used for login), and an optional home/stop location.
Driver and vehicle details — driver name and contact, vehicle number, and assigned routes.
Location data — the live GPS position of a van while a trip is active, sent from the driver's device.
Usage and device information — basic technical data needed to operate the apps reliably, such as a push-notification token.

How we use information

To show parents the live location, estimated arrival, and boarding status of their child's van.
To give schools oversight of their transport — safety alerts, attendance, and reports.
To send notifications such as boarding confirmations and tracking or safety alerts.
To operate, maintain, and improve the service.

Location data

A van's location is collected only while a trip is active and is used to provide live tracking to that van's registered parents and the school. It is not sold, and it is not made publicly accessible.

Who can see what

Access is strictly scoped. A parent sees only their own child's van. School staff see only their own school's data, according to their role. Drivers see only the students on their assigned runs. There is no public access to any tracking data.

Data sharing

We do not sell personal data. We share information only with the school the student belongs to, and with service providers that help us run the platform (for example, mapping and notification services) under appropriate safeguards, or where required by law.

Data retention

We retain information for as long as needed to provide the service to your school and to keep reasonable trip and attendance records, after which it is deleted or anonymised. Schools may request deletion of data for students or parents who leave.

Security

We use technical and organisational measures to protect data, including access controls and encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard the information entrusted to us.

Your choices

Parents and schools may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data we hold. Because schools administer most student information, some requests are best directed to your school, and we will assist as needed.

Children's privacy

Trakyn is used by adults (school staff and parents) on behalf of students. We collect student information only as provided by the school for the purpose of safe transport, and we limit its use accordingly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above.
